Transferring Phone Numbers Basics

You can transfer (port) your phone number from another carrier to Mangomint.

Once your number is transferred to Mangomint, it will be used for:

• Phone calls

• Text messages

• Automated text messages

• Non-marketing flow text messages

Before you transfer your phone number to Mangomint, please review the following information:

• Mangomint is not a cellular provider. Instead, we use VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) to allow you to make and receive calls through the Mangomint mobile app using an internet connection. This means your devices will need to be able to download the Mangomint mobile app and use Wi-Fi or mobile data in order to make and receive calls.

• We recommend making and receiving calls through the Mangomint mobile app on a phone, as iPads and tablets are not officially supported.

• Landline phones traditionally do not support mobile apps, Wi-Fi, or mobile data. If you transfer your landline number to Mangomint, you will no longer be able to use your landline phone once the transfer is complete.

• Transferring your number to Mangomint will replace your current number in Mangomint. However, text message history will remain in your Mangomint account and not be deleted.

• The number you are transferring and your current number in Mangomint will both be usable until your confirmed transfer date.

Once your number is transferred to Mangomint:

• You will no longer be able to use your previous carrier for phone calls and text messages. If you transferred from a traditional carrier, they will most likely cancel your service for the number you transferred.

• You will no longer be able to receive one-time passwords (OTP) or verification codes via text message. If you need to receive these codes, we recommend switching your multi-factor authentication methods (MFA) from text messages to an authenticator app before transferring your number to Mangomint.

Timeline of the transfer process

The following summary outlines the timeline of the transfer process. The transfer process will take a minimum of seven business days to complete.

1. Before you can transfer your phone number to Mangomint, you will need to submit an application to verify your business. Once you've submitted the application, it will be reviewed. The review process can take up to several days to complete.

2. While the review process is being completed, please reach out to your current carrier and confirm the number you want to transfer is unlocked and portable, and that you have the correct account number and porting PIN.

3. Once the review process is complete and your business is verified, you can transfer your number to Mangomint. The authorized representative you specify in your transfer request will receive an email from the Twilio Onboarding Team (our carrier partner). This email will contain a link to a Letter of Authorization (LOA) that they must sign to complete the transfer request.

4. If your previous phone was an iPhone, you will need to deregister your phone number from iMessage before your confirmed transfer date in order to receive text messages from iOS devices. If you do not deregister your number before your transfer date, it will cause delays in your transfer process, and inbound text messages from iOS devices can be lost.

5. On your confirmed transfer date, your transfer will take place at 8 PM. Please let us know if you prefer a different time.

6. You will be notified when your transfer is complete. There may be a delay of up to three business days before text messages are enabled for the number you transferred. During this time, you can continue using your previous Mangomint number to send and receive text messages as you normally would.
